Ozymandias' Laser Pistol

The cold precision of genius weaponized against the world.

In the lore of the masked vigilante universe, Adrian Veidt is renowned for his genius-level intellect and access to advanced technology. While often colloquially referred to by fans as a 'Laser Pistol,' this designation typically points to the energy projection system he utilizes within his Antarctic fortress rather than a standard handheld firearm. However, this device does not kill Rorschach; instead, Veidt crushes Rorschach under a large stone block to eliminate the threat to his grand design for world peace.

Lore & Background

The usage of this energy system marks a dark turning point in the history of the vigilantes. When Rorschach and Nite Owl discovered the truth behind the squid attack and Veidt's manipulation of global events, they confronted him on his ice fortress. Veidt did not engage them with martial arts or conventional firearms; instead, he activated this energy projection to neutralize Rorschach permanently. In reality, Veidt killed Rorschach by dropping a massive stone block onto him. Nite Owl (Dan Dreiberg) survived the encounter but did not later help Dr. Manhattan; Dr. Manhattan left Earth after killing Rorschach, and Dan was last seen with Laurie.

In Their Own Story

The air inside the Antarctic control room was frigid, tasting of recycled oxygen and ozone. Adrian Veidt stood motionless before the console, his silhouette sharp against the glowing monitors displaying the frozen landscape outside. He did not reach for a weapon in the traditional sense; there was no need to draw steel or powder. With a calm, deliberate press of a button on the interface, he authorized the discharge. Far below, deep within the icy waters, the hybrid organism surged with bio-electric power. A beam of pure energy lanced through the darkness, precise and silent, ending the argument before it could begin.

Reader's Guide

This device is not a handheld sidearm but rather a component of Veidt's Antarctic defense grid. It functions by channeling high-intensity energy through a remote control interface located in his headquarters. To operate the system, the user must be physically present at the console or within range of the secure network link. The weapon targets specific coordinates designated on the tactical display, projecting a beam that can penetrate ice and organic matter with lethal efficiency. Only Adrian Veidt possesses the clearance codes required to activate this function. It is designed for single-use termination in critical scenarios where negotiation has failed.
